- Fan Fiction Contest
- Posted by WatchWood on May 29, AD 2007 @ 9:24 PM
Once again, the folks here at Halo Wars Heaven are pleased to present you with a Fan Fiction Contest, hosted by AvidWriter and I. And just like last time around, we've got swag for the winners.
The first Place winner will receive choice of the 3 Halo soundtracks, the 4 Halo books currently out, and this Halo 3 backpack from the Bungie store (assuming that it's still available when the contest winners are announced. To cover our own backsides, we reserve the right to swap it for something else). As always, the second and third place winners will receive Heavengames swag, in their choice of either an HG hat or an HG T-shirt.
Contest entries are due July 15 of this year, so there will be plenty of time to get the entries done and in. See the thread for details and signups.

- One of the players in the Resident Evil mafia game dropped, and IND Master Chief has put out a call requesting at least one replacement, with more peeps if he can get them. Anyone interested should report in thread, or get ahold of him in some other manner.

Much as I hate to interrupt Botolf's Green Streak Of Win....

Apologies to those not big on the series, but that's one that I simply couldn't resist sharing.
- Bungie Weekly Update
- Posted by Botolf on May 25, AD 2007 @ 9:52 PM
- Bungie has released this week's weekly update, and it talks a little more about the Halo 3 beta. Bungie ninjas have gathered two dozen or so questions from the Bungie.net forums, and they have answered them all. The update covers ground from the beta player Rating system to Spartan laser spawning to heatmaps. What are heatmaps you say? Only the update knows.
- HALO 2 VISTA RELEASED
- Posted by Botolf on May 22, AD 2007 @ 2:52 PM
- Halo 2 Vista has finally been released in North America after being delayed earlier this month. Windows Vista is required, so XP or earlier won't cut it. Be sure to check store websites for when they'll have it available, the release dates have become a bit jumbled from location to location, generally Canada won't have Halo 2 Vista on sale until the 31rst. If you do pick it up, you'll get a handful of advantages over the original xbox release, sharper visuals, dedicated servers, 2 new maps, user-made maps, and achievements, for starters.
- BUNGIE WEEKLY UPDATE
- Posted by Botolf on May 18, AD 2007 @ 9:16 PM
- There's a new Bungie weekly update out today, which discusses the public beta and all the trials and tribulations it faced in getting ready to go for everybody, a section on European video game rating boards with a few little tidbits of Halo 3 infused, and how to avoid being crushed by the Halo 3 banhammer come September. Not too much shed on Halo 3, Halo Wars, or Peter Jackson's project, but it's an interesting read nonetheless.
- ES MONTHLY HALOWARS UPDATE
- Posted by Botolf on May 17, AD 2007 @ 1:07 PM
- Thunder of Ensemble Studios has released this month's Halo Wars update, which sheds a little more light on the project, but not too much, they're sneaky that way. What we do know is that Warthogs are confirmed in game (not much surprise there), and that Sparrowhawks, the air vehicles that recently had concept art released, will be in the game as well, with the ability to attack ground units (warthogs in the update). It's a good and short read, go and browse through it at your leisure here.
- RVB & HALO 3 BETA
- Posted by Botolf on May 16, AD 2007 @ 8:46 PM
- The folks at Rooster Teeth (responsible for the famous Halo machinima Red vs Blue) have released a special episode of Red vs Blue set in the Halo 3 beta, with jokes involving all the new and shiny features abounding. Get the presentation here, or if you so prefer, it can be picked up off of the Xbox Live marketplace in HD.
- HALO 3 RELEASE DATE
- Posted by Botolf on May 16, AD 2007 @ 1:05 AM
- Bungie announced the release date for Halo 3 today, and it is indeed Fall 2007. Mark September the 25th down in your calendars, for that will be the day when you finish the fight, the wait, and perhaps that gas money that you probably shouldn't have used in that moment of frenzied desperation to get a better place in line. While you're circling that date, be sure to read the short interview Bungie has put together with Executive Producer Jonty Barnes, it involves Bungie and the release date (what else?).
- HALO 3 PUBLIC BETA GUIDE
- Posted by Botolf on May 16, AD 2007 @ 12:40 AM
- Bungie has released an in-depth guide that covers everything you need to know about the Halo 3 Public Beta, from map overviews to weapon and vehicle spotlights to information on all the various menus and options. It should also answer many questions you may have about the beta, and bring you up to date on the current state of Halo 3 if you've missed a lot of recent information, whether it be from the numerous leaks or from Bungie itself.
Perhaps most interesting to you lucky players who are invited to the beta is the overviews of the 3 maps you'll be playing, High Ground, an asymmetrical offense/defense map with a large base-wall, Valhalla, the largest map and set in a green canyon dominated by Forerunner structures and a winding river, and Snowbound, a winter map with two Foreunner buildings that have extensive basements and tunnels.
- A DECADE OF HEAVENGAMES
- Posted by Botolf on May 15, AD 2007 @ 10:35 PM
- Well, today is a special day in the history of HG (technically yesterday, so sue me), an anniversary of special note. Heavengames has survived and thrived for a decade, an eternity as far as the world wide web is concerned. It has seen many notable members join, a few leave, and many enjoyable memories to remember them by. The forums have brought in excess of 150,000 users together to discuss the games in question and all matters related to gaming and life in general. HG itself has grown from a mere handful of fansites into a large ring of a few dozen. Here's hoping we get another 10 glorious years, may they be as fun and fulfilling as the last!

- Bungie's released a fairly major weekly update, containing a fair number of goodies about Halo 2, Halo 3, and a few other tidbits you're just dieing to know about. The best part? Mister Chief muffins.
