Halo Wars Being Cancelled?

EGM's Senior Editor Shane Bettenhausen spilled a nasty rumor upon the 360 world in the last 1UP Podcast. Shane said "a big Microsoft first-party title that has been in the works for a very long time, that people are very excited for, sounds like it's being canceled."

The internet community queried every beloved Xbox 360 developer and have yet to find which title is being cancelled. Some started to speculate that Halo Wars was the title getting the axe, since Ensemble hasn't publicly denied it, it was being left as the prime suspect. So I asked Ensemble's Community Manager, Graham Sommers today:

Hey Graham, this is Elpea. There is a rumor going around that a major 360 title is getting cancelled, all the developers have denied their title right now. So before I make a newspost and scare everyone, can you deny that Halo Wars will be cancelled?

Most likely "I haven't heard that one" means "no, we're not getting cancelled", but let's put our tinfoil hats on!

I think the fact that there's barely any info about Halo Wars makes this rumor scarier for us.

I'd guess the Peter Jackson project would be axed before Halo Wars, there's next to nothing on it out there, heck, we don't even know if it's a game or a movie-game hyrbid.

Nice job, Luciano. You got a mention on GameSpot.

An Ensemble Studios poster on the official Halo Wars forums didn't specifically deny that the high-profile real-time strategy spin-off of Microsoft's sci-fi cash cow was canceled. However, he did post a picture of a man in a tinfoil hat in the thread on the subject, showing exactly what was thought of the suggestion.

II sure hope not, I love halo and all the games, the idea of a RTS halo game is awesome, though I heard bungie is leaving microsoft >
