Halo Wars to Be Shown at MS Press Event?

Botolf writes:

It has been reported by a forummer on the Gametrailers website that Halo Wars, among many other games will be shown at Microsoft's press event on May 13th. What will we see of Halo Wars? We can't be sure at this point, but here's hoping it's something good and meaty to satisfy our appetites.

Source

Bungie.net Users Interview ES

Botolf writes:

The Bungie.net group "Halo Wars RTS" has posted a two-parter interview with Ensemble Studios' audio team (Interviewees are Kevin McMullan and JD Smith). Aside from music, this team creates all the sound effects that will be needed for Halo Wars. The sound of birds, combat, and even event cues are made possible by their work. Part II ends with an audio snippet of Smith's daughter, and I must say it sounds very bird-like in the final version.

Read Part I here.
Read Part II here.

Gameplayer Interviews ES

Botolf writes:

Australian enthusiast site Gameplayer has interviewed Ensemble Studio's Graeme Devine. He talks about issues of control, and collaboration with the people at Bungie in terms of respecting the canon. Most interesting is talk of downloadable content (new units, maps, possibly campaigns) and even the possibility of a map editor being released, either with the game or later on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The article covers a wide array of topics, and is probably one of the better interviews we've seen so far this year.

[This message has been edited by Botolf (edited 05-06-2008 @ 07:07 PM).]

New Concept Art: Forerunner Trifecta

Botolf writes:

Thunder has posted a new piece of concept art to the galleries of Halowars.com! It appears to be another in the series of mysterious Forerunner constructions, this painting is complete with a set of sloping "fins" above a glowing maelstrom of energy.

Quoted from Thunder:For those of you who blew a gasket or even had some doubt in your mind after reading the April 1st interview over at Halo Wars Heaven, the answer is no the Forerunner are not actually playable in Halo Wars. I hope this let's you sleep soundly, or at least stop e-mailing in about it.

Or perhaps we'll just have to confuse the issue by posting another Forerunner building concept. This is another piece by Ensemble artist Danny Beck in his series of Forerunner structures that you may find scattered around our maps. For now, you'll just find it in our concept gallery.

Find the full size-version here.

Botolf writes:

A new concept piece by Ensemble Studios artist Danny Beck has been added to the galleries of Halowars.com and Halowars Heaven, an interesting new take on the classic Forerunner energy-spire.

"Forerunner design has a certain vibe to it that we’ve worked quite hard on. In the Halo FPS games we see quite a bit of Forerunner architecture, machinery and environments. Extending that out into the RTS world, and into new environments, we had to keep the look and feel of what we’ve seen before but at the same time offer something new, some new function that keeps that mystery going that all Forerunner installations and devices have."

See the full version here.

How has the look of the game changed from what we saw at E3 2007?

Lance: The E3 demo was one of our first real efforts to pull the art together for a presentation. It was a great effort and helped us figure out some of things we were doing right and point out areas that we could improve in. I'd say that the look of the game has improved in all areas since the E3 demo. We've adjusted the scale of the units, improved our map development process and look, and taken another pass (or two) on our unit models and textures."

Read the full interview here.

[This message has been edited by Botolf (edited 03-03-2008 @ 05:39 PM).]

Botolf writes:

Three new pieces of concept art have been added to the galleries over at Halowars.com, and all feature imaginative alien creatures that look just at home in Harvest's winter regions.
